The Bone Season (Revised) … I missed this?

I’m confused about the preferred texts. Is it just books 1 and 2 that have been updated or the whole series? I’d like to re-read them with the updates but don’t want to buy new copies if they don’t differ from the ones I already own.

Ok I have now read in the last few weeks the original and revised for book 1, and I highly recommend picking up that copy. It is simply BETTER. Every time you asked yourself ‘but why wouldn’t character X just do Y?’ And other little plot holes, it is corrected in the revised.

I personally think it’s worth it to read the revised editions if only to have the most consistent style of writing by the time you get to the Dark Mirror. I love S.S. but her writing definitely evolved over the years and the OG Bone Season really shows this in comparison to The Mask Falling. She referenced the tweaks she made to Wardens characterization and the info dumping in the first book as reasons to read the preferred text as well.

I definitely agree book 1 feels a little stilted at times and she’s a hugely better author nowadays. As I was rereading this time a lot of those ‘less than good’ moments were standing out to me. So I’m not opposed to a reread. I was just so proud to have reread book 1 this weekend so I could do book 2 - 4 before book 5 is release next week lol. Guess I’ll go out and buy the new versions and start my timeline over
