Just starting the Sopranos

I’m finally sitting down to watch the sopranos after hearing for years it’s one of the greatest shows in TV history. I’m on episode 8 of season 1. I gotta be honest, it’s starting a little slow, at least for my taste. When does the show start to pick up with more violence, thickening plot and drama?
