Question about Warden Warning Level decreasing while offline

Heres what i know:

The warning level is increased every time a player is detected by a sculk shrieker. Once it gets to 4 a shrieker spawns a warden. The warning level is linked to the player not to a location.

After ten minutes of not being detected by a sculk shrieker the players warning level is decreased by one.

Now to my question:

If a player logs off a server, that keeps running, is his warning level decreased every ten minutes or does he need to be logged in?

Im not talking about Singleplayer worlds that are put to a stop once the player leaves the world. I have a Multiplayer Server in mind.
