LeavingMadison, where in Wi should I move?

I’ve lived in Madison for 16 years, and grew up in the fox valley. I like a lot of things about Madison, but unfortunately am being priced out. Can’t afford a decent two bedroom apt and definitely can’t afford to buy anything here. I’m a remote worker, would like to rent a 2 bed apt for under $1550 per month. I’m considering Appleton, but not sure if there are other places I should think about. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Partner and I are in our mid 30’s. He’s disabled and we have a combined annual income of around $80k. What other cities should we check out?

Edit to add; we’re not super into night life or bars anymore. We like the outdoors. Population growth in Madison has made everything a lot more crowded and busy here and we would prefer something a little more relaxed. Interesting dining options and close to nature would be perks for us.
