Doing my own makeup- bad idea?

Background: Since starting to plan my wedding, I’ve been pretty sure I wanted to do my own make up. I’ve been in a few weddings, and when I’ve had my makeup done professionally with them, I’ve always been unhappy with it. I wear natural makeup or no makeup most days. I know wedding makeup is heavy for a reason (photos and longevity, but I just really want to feel like myself on the day).

Since vocalizing this preference, I’ve had a few people tell me they don’t recommend it. Including my coordinator, my photographer, and some friends who have been in multiple weddings too. They just tell me it will stress me out. So now I’m starting to question this idea. Do you think it’s a bad idea to do my own makeup for my wedding?
