From broken bush find to beautiful artwork!
I found a decent sized pedestal bowl when I was out mushroom foraging a few years ago and, obviously, brought it home. I didn’t know what I was gonna do with it, but what I did know is that I was keeping the first piece I found in the actual wild that wasn’t on some shoreline somewhere.
ANYWAY! Fast forward a few years….picture it, PA coal region, fall 2023. I’m cruising Etsy lookin for spicy glass when I happened across a lamp work artist that recycles broken vintage/antique glass, using it to make flowers, earrings, pendants and all kinds of other cool stuff.
So, I made her an offer; make my wife a mushroom pendant out of the bowl and keep the rest as payment. It’s a lot of material to work with, so she was agreeable to the offer. Well, she went above and beyond! She made me a bad ass keychain and some glass flowers and leaves to go with the other 6 I bought for my mini Fenton opalescent hobnail vase. You can see how that turned out.
At any rate, I’m happier than shit with her work! I need some more to fill it in a bit, though.
