Thunderbolt 3 Ports look weird?
I just bought a b-stock Apollo x8 Gen 1. It looks great (I have not plugged it in yet). But the TB3 ports on the back look kind of chewed up, or corroded metal, or just like poorly cut holes. Does anyone else have ports on the back that look like this?
From my looking online, Sweetwater and reverb have images of TB3 option cards that look similarly weird (in my opinion) but the UAD website has ports that seem to have pristine metal rings which look clean.
I’m about to set it up and see how it works, but I’m curious if anyone has run into this or questioned this before. And more importantly if it can cause functionality issues.
My first thought was that someone returned the Apollo and swapped the option card… but seeing similarly weird images on Sweetwater makes me curious if different eras of option cards just look different /were made differently.
On mine, it’s not obviously corroded metal. I’m not sure what I’m looking at. I’ve attached an image of it.
