Spent my day off getting to the bottom of the Ankalaev controversy
Let me start off by prefacing that this was extremely fun and informative since I did not know anything about the Muslim religion
So we all know the controversy surrounding the Ankalaev/Alex/Ramadan situation and this sub and all the other mma groups I’m had a lot of conflicting reports so I decided to do the ground work myself and go to a local mosque and get information from a Muslim Imam (in other religions called a priest) myself
I walked in and talked to some members and said I had some questions about the religion and he came and sat down with me and gave me some tea and I started asking him about Ramadan, fasting, and combat sports
Anyways I laid down all the facts and he said that Ankalaev lying about fasting was wrong in the eyes of the Quran, he said his fight would of been sufficient enough to not fast since it could be considered a “hardship” which is allowed for Ramadan, but he also said that as long he asked for Tawbah (their term for forgiveness) then he should be in the clear
Whether or not it affects the outcome of the fight we will have to wait until Saturday to see
