Unpopular Opinion: Brian Thompson was just a guy doing his job.

It's been a wild few days watching everyone meme on this CEO for being murdered, all the while hailing the murderer as if he's some sort of hero. Brian wasn't the problem, the system is a problem. Brian didn't invent the 'for profit healthcare' system, he was simply a guy that worked for one of the companies that participated. What about the people that invest in these companies, aren't they worse than the CEO? They're the ones handing him money so he can give them even more in return. They're the ones that demand people are denied. United isn't the only for profit healthcare company out there. Brian was someones son. He was someones Husband. He was a father to two. He was a human with a family that loved him dearly.

People are always going to start yapping when someone with a better life than them meets an untimely demise, but glorifying the killer is disgusting. Do we really want to live in a world where you can be murdered heading in to work and the world cheers on the murderer? Are you going to feel that way when your card gets pulled? What if your mother or daughter were assassinated as they were heading to work because some random person didn't like their companies policies? How about when you flip on the news to find out the whole country is laughing about it and the killer is being hailed as a righteous vigilante??

The company he is responsible for is evil and he had to make unfavorable decisions to appease his investors, but that does not make him the problem. they will simply replace him. there are other CEOs for companies exactly like his. should they be killed? no. would it change anything if they were? no. the investors are still there with their hands out. it's just the world we live in. it's how money is made. the for profit healthcare system (and for profit detention - while we're at it) is morally wrong and needs changed. Fight to have the system changed. Nobody needs to die.
