“That name doesn’t fit you.”

I’m SO tired of people commenting on my name. It’s just so rude to say to someone, especially when it’s a name they chose!

I’m FTM, and I ended up choosing a name that has a stereotypical vibe of like, a jock football player asshole — meanwhile I have goth/punk soft boy vibes. I don’t know WHY my brain latched onto the name that I did when I was 17-ish, but it’s the name that I really like and I’ve wanted for so long!

But it seems like EVERYONE feels like it’s okay to be like “Oh, that name doesn’t fit you :/“ and similar comments — primarily from cis people but some of my trans friends have said it as well.

I have NEVER seen anyone say to a cis person that their name doesn’t fit them, and that they should pick something different that fits them better, and it’s SO frustrating that people feel like it’s okay to just say it to someone who is trans.

Like am I wrong for being so frustrated by the amount of negative comments I’ve gotten? I’m just so tired of it and I don’t want to just pick a new name to please other people…
