Where to start?

Hi all experienced hobbyist here looking to start SCE in the future. I'm having a lot of trouble deciding how to start with so many models in the range and the inability to reliably dive into the warscolls. Obviously there is buying starterbox halves but I would like to buy more focused than that with a list in mind. I'm also not looking to copy meta lists, Any suggestions?
