Trying to prove a point to someone
How much do you guys make, what general area are you in, and how much is rent on average where you are?
In response to a post on Facebook about how people shouldn't do the "pay it forward" and instead tip their baristas well, this girl said that Starbucks employees make $15 to $23 an hour (implicating that's more enough).
I don't work at Starbucks currently (I'm a former partner), but I did interview there recently and the pay was only $12. I'm curious what everyone else makes. For me, $12 would never be enough for me to sustain living on my own. Sure, I could get roommate, but I shouldn't HAVE to. I'm actually married and this a hypothetical situation for me, but if I wasn't married and my husband didn't have a decent paying job, I couldn't afford anything.
I also want to say that even if people do make $15 to $23, I know that's still not enough. When factoring in the area where people are and average rent costs, it likely isn't a livable wage.
Slightly edited for context.
