Dead Space Signalis Similarities

I've seen it brought up a fair bit on this sub, but having recently finished Dead Space I'm spotting a lot of similarities far beyond the usual looking for their girlfriend and stomping zombies tropes. That said, I've heard the devs haven't played Dead Space. While I'm not going to outright call them a liar, I think they likely heard a fair bit about it at some point and maybe forgot where it came from like how some music writers will accidentally "write" a song that already exists and only realize later where the inspiration came from.
