Rehoming a Pit?
UPDATE: We’re keeping her 😊 I asked my wife what kind of home she wanted her to go to and my wife started crying and said “Ours.” So, we’re proud pit parents now ❤️
Hey folks - Does anyone know where I can rehome a pit puppy OR is anyone interested in adopting a pittie (there will be a hella interview for anyone who wants to adopt her, just a heads up).
My wife and I unintentionally brought in a pit puppy last week after I almost hit her with my car. When I got out to check on her, she literally jumped into my car and decided that she was coming home with me. We considered adopting her ourselves, but we don't have the time or space for a puppy right now. We'd love for her to go to a reputable rescue or find a home that can give her the life she deserves.
Basic Details:
8 (probably) month old blue/grey pit female - she hasn't been spayed yet
35ish pounds
Behavior:
Super freaking sweet, like unreasonably sweet
Slight separation anxiety
Good with other dogs and maybe cats, but doesn't realize how big she is - she's curious about our cats, but she hasn't shown any aggression
Velcro dog - she thinks she's a lapdog and, if allowed on the bed, will sleep on top of you
Knows the "sit" command, but that's about it
Health:
Intact (not spayed)
Will need her next round of booster vaccines on or after March 27th (bordatella, lepto, parvo, K9 influenza, distemper) - she received her first round and rabies vaccines at VCA Pets First
IMPORTANT - She does seem to have allergies and her skin is kinda messed up right now. She's on antibiotics for a skin infection and needs a bath with anti-fungal shampoo 2-3 times a week until her skin clears up. She is good for the bath and takes her pill with a Pill Pocket.
Happy to share pics with anyone interested and set up a meet and greet. If you know of any rescues willing to take her in, please let me know. I really wish we could keep her because she really is an absolute sweetheart and we love her already, but she deserves a home that can give her the attention she deserves.
