Am I trippin?

Had a fall last weekend and scratched the lug pretty good, along with one of the brushed links. I’m not usually concerned about scratches, I know it’s a part of actually wearing the watch, but these cut a little deeper and feel more noticeable.

Would polishing the lug be a bad idea? What about the brushed finish on the link, is that polishable? I probably just need to wear it more to get used to it , but curious what others have to say. Thanks in advance.
