Is being pregnant a reason to have an attitude and be rude?

Hi there! I’ve never been pregnant, so I’m not familiar with the changes that happen during that time. But as the title suggests, is it okay to have an attitude? Do hormones play a role in that sense?

A friend of mine has been acting poorly lately, both toward me and others. She’s been really snarky, missing important events for friends, and generally unsupportive, offering up weak excuses. She recently announced that she’s 14 weeks pregnant, and looking back, a lot of her behavior makes sense now, as she was trying to hide her pregnancy. While I’m genuinely excited for her and her husband, I still find her actions rude and unacceptable.

It’s hurtful to think that she lied and wasn’t kind. I wouldn’t be as upset about the dishonesty if she had been nicer about it. I think this overall reflects poorly on her. At the same time, I completely understand her desire for privacy and doing what she felt was best for herself. I just wish she could have handled it in a way that was more respectful to others. I don’t believe being pregnant excuses her behavior, and I’d love to hear opinions from those who have been through this.
