What were tonight’s biggest upsets for you?
My ranking:
Animated Feature Film: I did not see this coming. I saw a lot of love for Flow, and it did have some precursors, but I thought the industry would stick with giants like DreamWorks or Disney, or at least something American.
International Feature Film: Even though this was being predicted by a decent number of Oscar pundits, it was not clear how much of a late breaker I’m Still Here would be. It seems like momentum built up at the right time, and SPC had the right strategy with the Globes and then the Oscars.
Best Actress: Not a shocker, considering how well Anora was performing in the guilds, and Mikey Madison had BAFTA. Moore had a very strong narrative, and there were claims that Madison and Torres were splitting international votes.
Editing: Not very shocking either, considering Anora was much stronger than Conclave and the other films, but BAFTA sent a different message here, and the Editors awards is still pending.
