My sister and I were both named after Presidents
My name is Kennedy, and my sister’s name is Reagan. When my mom named me Kennedy in 2001, it was a recognized but fairly uncommon name for a girl. Now, in 2024, Kennedy is the 72nd most popular girl’s name. Reagan on the other hand was hugely popular in 2007, being the 80th most popular girl’s name. There were other Reagans in my neighborhood and I had never met another Kennedy my age. Now, in 2024, Reagan has fallen all the way down to #317. I found this to be interesting, considering the names both share the same context within America (presidential names that can also work as girl names). I would be curious to know why Kennedy has risen in popularity while Reagan has fallen off so harshly?
