What are some of the most culturally important movies?

Hello all! I don't live in the US, or an English speaking country. My source of finding good english movies is IMDB Top 250 and of course, r/movies. But I have a sense that there might be some movies that not highly rated but were really popular/entertaining/important and I would not get to know about them not living in that culture. Please help me find some. Thanks!
