Utterly despise the new limitations on Decorations.

EDIT: Having found out that there are offense/defense versions of the same skills, I feel more vindicated in this take than when I first wrote it. It’s not an offense/defense split, it’s just an armor slot/weapon slot split. That’s just tedious, man. I see no other purpose for that besides making the grind arbitrarily worse for deco farming.

You don’t need to put every idea you have into your game. It’s already SO cluttered, and the added limitation of attack/defense categories to decorations is just pissing me off, man. It’s just less build freedom than before. It’s more time spent greebily agonizing over build details because they can’t execute what would have already been buildable before. All this adds is a new vector of limitation without changing anything else about the system, which amounts to more tedium in the build stage, and less player agency in the only place players have to progress — gear.

The effect this has is that everyone uses the same weapons and armor pieces — it just moved the bottlenecked building to, imho, a worse place. Samey decos is much better than samey weapons/armor pieces.

We had a system of decos before, only now your weapon slots say no to some of them and your armor slots says no to some of them. For no fucking reason other than unnecessary categorization and, I guess, them not wanting players to play a way that they saw before.

I hate it.

edit: changed some wording for better ease of reading and clarity.

also going to add, I think that the deco system could have used changes! There are places where it needs depth and places it needs streamlining, but instead of doing any of that substantive work, they just tack another limitation onto the player — trying to force balance changes through the player’s hands instead of creating them inside the game.

You could make the deco system better but this is just tacked-on to the existing, already-fidgety deco system. No other changes have been made to the system itself. It’s just clunky.
