It’s Not Your Fault
I’m writing this for myself more than anything. Migraine disease is not your fault. It’s genetic, poorly understood by doctors, with poorly funded research, and finding a treatment plan that works for you is often a protracted trial and error process. You may have good decades and bad decades of pain that resists treatment or more frequent attacks. You don’t cause the attacks when you manage life imperfectly. You don’t deserve your pain. The nonsense anecdotal snake oil cures hurled at you by individuals who wish to help do more harm than good. Human bodies are complex and we get a short time to experience them as an ever changing organism. Knowing that you are not alone is beneficial, especially when you are tired of not being able to show up how you want. Today I focus on forgiving myself for all the cruelty I inflicted upon myself for having migraine. My hope for all of you is that you make peace with migraine and fight for a better quality of life. You deserve it. Sending hugs to all of you who helped inspire me to take back the reins and fight to feel better. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
