Genuinely confused

I was just playing ranked and for some reason I couldn’t use any spell, traps and/or monsters from my hand except for maxx C, Bystial magnum and bystial druis. I couldn’t find a card that I or my opponent used that could be it but it could also just be because he used a lot of cards.
