Random question: why the collectors ships look like this?

I really like the Collectors structures designs, but they make me wonder: why their ships look like that?

Being that the collectors are essentially drones for the reapers, one would assume that their ships overall design remember the one of their masters.

Yet, they have a completely different design, looking completely different from reapers designs.

Why? It’s because, being the Collectors genetically modified Protheans, their design derived from Protheans cruisers?

Is that what a Prothean ship looked like?
