What are some of the most self sufficient characters?

Mostly curious about tanks in my case, I mostly play Jeff but I want to try a vanguard that doesn't heavily rely on my teammates if possible, any suggestions? My immediate thought is peni or venom due to the kind of self heal they have going on. Should I look at anyone else?
