Help choosing between M4 MacBook Air or M4 MacBook Pro

My 2018 MacBook Pro with 16 gb ram and 512 GB SSD has wondered into an unending black screen loop. I am taking this as a sign that I should finally upgrade. I’ve narrowed the upgrade to a M4 MacBook Air with 16GB ram/ 512 SSD or a M4 MacBook Pro 16GB ram/ 512 SSD. The price difference between these particular MacBook models and configurations isn’t a concern as it is mitigated by how infrequently I upgrade my MacBooks. It will be my main or rather only computer. If not by the activities I use it for, then I’m a heavy user in terms the amount of hours I spend on it. I use it for general online searching, class work, programming using various IDEs, lots of video streaming (netflix/zoom), and reading. I don’t do any video editing related. In addition, I carry it almost everywhere but expect either model is likely to weigh less heavier than the 2015 MacBook Pro I’m use to carrying around. At any rate, I’m having a hard time deciding between the two and would love some thoughts on which one I should go with.
