Do I have a case?
Gave birth in December. Requested an epidural, mind you I never had one , this is my first and now only child .
Anesthesiologist did the process for said epidural however he gave me too much . He openly admitted in front of other staff & my spouse , that he gave me an extra “whatever they consider a dose”. Anyway them giving me extra medicine ended up paralyzing me from the mouth down , I almost aspirated because I couldn’t swallow. They asked my spouse to roll me onto my side , because the nurse was too weak to do so . My blood pressure tanked and I passed out . My baby was also in distress & his heart rate dropped . Came to about 2 hours later and received yet another epidural dose . Needless to say I was traumatized from the experience.
I ended up having a c section , my boy was stuck and I requested it after so many hours . After birth , and when I got home I noticed I was still numb in my legs. Which my OB chalked it up to be excess fluid and swelling. Well here I am 5 months later , still numb , trouble with walking , limping , weakness. I had to quit my job (as a nurse) due to not being about to perform the tasks given to me .
I then went to my PCP and they referred me to get a nerve conduction study done , which the diagnosis is :Bilateral Meralgia Prosthetica , which in simpler terms means : damage to my nerves due to femoral nerve compression and it mildly effects my muscles as well.
Is there anything that can be done?? I’m struggling physically and also mentally… is this disability approved? I just need some advice
