Help

Hey i got this plant not too long ago for cheap because it was kinda little/damaged. It was looking good up until a couple of weeks ago. i left for 5 days and asked someone else to water it for me, when i came back the dirt was like mud so i decided to change the dirt for a dryer one. now it looks like it’s growing mould… I have been thinking of chopping the plant off? but not sure of what to do or if it can be saved? help please
