Three months until GIFF - get those events set up!

The Geocaching International Film Festival runs from November 9-19, so events can be set up starting now. GIFF is my favorite geocaching event of the year, as I enjoy the international film entries and different perspectives on geocaching. Each year I rent a movie theater and ask for voluntary donations to cover the event. In 2016 I hosted my first GIFF event, and was so inspired by the short films that I spent the next year learning about filmmaking and making a film entry of my own. My film “A Travel Bug’s Life” was a finalist film in 2017 and was shown at events in over 50 countries, which was so unbelievable. It inspired me to make films about geocaching and work with the international geocaching community.

So start planning your GIFF events! From hosting my event 7 years ago I wound up becoming a filmmaker and making a bunch of international friends. Your event doesn’t have to be in a movie theater, just any place you can show the one hour long film reel. If you don’t host an event, try to attend one! They’re so much fun.
