Starting my first garden as an adult who has land to do with what they want....

My budget is small this year, but I still want to grow SOMETHING, even if it isn't to can or cook with. I grew up on a farm/homestead and have the know how, and as of December, I have the how. I don't have the budget this year to start what I want to start, so I guess I just need suggestions on edible plants I can get for cheap that will grow nice in 7B (sw oklahoma).

I don't have the money for all the starting stuff, but does anyone know of some simple things I can grow/obtain easily that I don't necessarily have to buy all the typical gardening stuff for?

By next year, I have a whole garden plot planned and canning stuff set up, but we just moved and I want to fulfill my need to grow food lol at least to a small scale for now. Thanks!
