I also have a bunch of decants and samples on top of this. I try and limit myself to owning 10 bottles maximum, but I cheated a little and ordered a new bottle before my Armani Code ran out. Now for the ratings and reviews!! From left to right:
Dior Hypnotic Poison EDT, 10/10: This smells so delicious to me. To my nose this is all about creamy vanilla ice cream in a rootbeer float with lots of almonds. It somehow even captures the fizzy/bubbly nature of the rootbeer. I'm not sure if that description really conveys the true beauty of how this smells, so I'll just say this- if you are a woman who likes sweet yummy fragrances, do yourself a favour and at least sample this. Released in the 90s yet doesn't smell the least bit dated.
Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess, 7.5/10: Every summer, Estee Lauder puts out another Bronze Goddess. I bought mine the summer of 2017, and unfortunately it seems more citrusy and less creamy or floral than the versions I have tried both previously and subsequently. Nonetheless, it's a lovely beachy summer scent with bergamot, coconut, and tiare flowers. Longevity sucks.
MAC Velvet Teddy, 9/10: I adore this fragrance, it absolutely has the wow factor. That being said don't blind buy, as this leans masculine to me. The honey and tobacco combination in the dry down is divine, the honey note just SINGS. Performance is also incredible, the best of my whole collection. I cannot imagine using more than 1-2 sprays. The one point I took off was because I think the opening blast is a bit ...hectic. The spicy ginger is just too harsh. Once I get past the first 15-20 minutes or so, it's wonderful.
Jessica Simpson Fancy, 7/10: The creamy smooth caramel note in here is incredibly good. A much better done caramel than fragrances several times the price- no doubt it beats out Prada Candy's plasticy burnt sugar note. If this perfume was literally just that caramel and nothing else I would love it. But there's something else in here- hairspray? Cheap soap? Laundry dryer sheets? - that detracts from the magic. When you smell this wafting in the air you get more of the caramel, but whenever I stick my nose in my arm to smell this, the harsh laundry dryer sheet makes its presence very known.
Armani Code for Women EDP, 7/10: It's a shame this perfume has been largely forgotten amid all the newer releases of the last 15 years. For the few hours it lasts on the skin, this is very enjoyable- my rating might be unfairly low because I've owned this so long I've grown bored of the smell. While the notes sound very feminine (honey, vanilla, orange, and white flowers) I think men could absolutely pull this off. There is something that makes this deeper, richer, than you would expect.
Jo Malone Velvet Rose and Oud, 9/10: This is the most luxurious scent I've ever experienced. It just smells EXPENSIVE. This is all about a deep, dark, velvety, evening rose. I can imagine this fragrance on woman wearing a full length gown and large diamond earrings, at a very upscale event. It transports me to that glamorous mindset, silly as that may sound. This probably isn't the most "versatile" but IDGAF, I'll wear this to the grocery store if I please.
Mugler Alien Essence Absolue, 10/10: Blessed is the fragrantica community, who introduced me to this beauty. The slightly medicinal jasmine from Alien (a fragrance I find just so-so) is cradled in this dense, exquisite amber and vanilla. Perfect for a cool evenings when you're in the mood for something rich and decadent. I think the colour of the liquid accurately reflects what this smells like. It's bold, memorable, and performance is fantastic. I use this sparingly in case the rumours about it being discontinued are true.
Roberto Cavalli EDP, 6/10: I used to think of this as a big blind-buy fail, but lately it has grown on me a little bit. To me this smells like amber plus orange marmalade jelly. If you like the idea of smelling like marmalade, this one is for you. I can't smell any of the vanilla or florals listed in the note breakdown. It's very sweet as well, so it fits the bill when I want to smell like candied orange. It's wearable and pleasant.
Tom Ford Noir Pour Femme, 10/10: This perfume stole my heart the moment I tried this. If I was forced to pick one fragrance for life, this would be it. To me, this is predominantly a spiced creamy vanilla. I would love to know exactly what spices are combined to create this amazing smell- perhaps cardamom, saffron, cinnamon, truly mouthwatering. There is also a wonderful nuttiness in here, like almonds and pistachios were blended with full fat cream. The magic of Noir Pour Femme is that it's a sweet gourmand fragrance that retains a sense of maturity and sophistication. I have gotten a number of compliments on this one from coworkers as well.
Guerlain L'Homme Ideal EDP, 9/10: Shoutout to Sebastian from Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews on YouTube for encouraging women to sample this men's fragrance. Everything here is in perfect harmony and balance- the fluffy vanilla, the cherry sweetness, the smokey incense, the black leather- to create something wonderful. Funnily enough it took me quite a while to even be able to detect the leather, yet now I smell it so clearly. This would make such a fantastic signature scent for either gender, because it's both pleasing AND unique.
Guerlain Shalimar Souffle Intense, 8/10: The most recently added fragrance to my collection. This is a very powdery, ladylike musk. I personally love powdery accords in perfume. Wearing this is like being surrounded by a fluffy, lemony cloud. I'm so used to lemon being used in a fresh, tart, sparkling way, but the way lemon combines with powder in this perfume is a totally different experience. It smells like something an elegant mature lady would wear- perhaps Cate Blanchett or Jessica Lange. Below average sillage, even if you overspray.
Well, that's the collection! Hope this was interesting or helpful to anyone. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to answer.
