Platinum 3776 Chartres Blue vs Pilot Custom Heritage 92 in Blue

I’m currently torn between two pens and would love to hear your thoughts. I’m considering:

  1. Platinum 3776 Chartres Blue (Soft Fine) - Rhodium Trim
  2. Pilot Custom Heritage 92 (Fine) - Blue

I already own a Sailor Pro Gear Imperial Black (M) and a Pilot Custom 823 (M). I love Japanese fountain pens, and I’m now looking for a fine/soft fine nib experience while also adding a pen that looks great in my collection.

Aesthetically, I like pens that stand out and look good. The Chartres Blue has that deep, almost mystical blue that looks incredible under light, especially with the rhodium trim. On the other hand, the CH92 has that modern, clear demonstrator look with a piston filler, which is also cool but in a different way.

A few things I’d love your input on:

  • Nib Feel: How does the SF on the 3776 compare to the F on the CH92 in terms of feedback and softness?
  • Writing Experience: I know the Platinum nibs can be a bit stiff despite being “soft,” but does it offer a more enjoyable experience than the Pilot’s smoothness?
  • Looks: Which one feels more premium and eye-catching in person?
  • Any durability concerns?

Would love to hear your thoughts—especially if you’ve used both! Which one would you pick and why?

I plan to fill this pen with a blue shade, so if you have any ink recommendations that would complement either pen’s look and nib performance, I’m all ears!

Thanks in advance! 😊
