Comparing job offers and relocation, US vs. Netherlands

I'm at an unique position where I'm able to choose between 2 job offers:

US: 150k USD/year, Minneapolis region NL: 100k EUR/y, Rotterdam region

Both salaries are gross. There's an yearly bonus as well which should be close to 10% in both cases. My SO and our son would be moving with me, and initially I'd have to provide for the full family for 6-12 months until we manage to settle down and my SO could learn the language(s) and find a job.

US job seems to be a higher salary compared to cost of living in the MN region. However, NL seems to offer more in terms of safety nets, better working hours, healthcare, cultural options, travel, etc. I'd be inclined to take the NL job if it wasn't for the salary difference.

I'd like your opinions on:

  • Assuming that in both cases we'd be willing to go a little further from the big city to cut living costs and rent, how comparable are these salaries?
  • Is it enough to provide for a family of 3 with decent middle class standards? Especially for the netherlands, I'm finding confliciting information.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!
