Demographic:
Asian female, competitive public high school in CA, First gen, middle to low income
Stats:
- SAT: 1470, 1510 superscore (bad test taker, will def retake)
- GPA: probably 3.95, school doesn't do weighted, max rigor
APs Taken:
- 15 by the end of senior year (9th: AP Psych (5), AP Micro (4), 10th: AP Calc AB (5), AP Bio (5), AP Macro (4), AP Chinese (5), this year taking AP Chem, AP Calc BC, AP Lang, AP CSA, and APUSH)
Major Applying For: biology or biochem (pre-med)
Extracurricular Activities:
- Research internship at local medical research center on cardiovascular pathways
- (upcoming summer) research internship at cancer center on cancer epigenetics
- Accredited and reputable online program, plan to publish research paper
- School medical club founder / president
- School cancer club president
- Volunteer at cancer center hospital
- Volunteer at local hospice
- Violinist at the most advanced orch in my high school
- Online tutoring for underprivileged kids for math and reading (since 9th grade)

Essays: plan to write abt my family's experience with cancer (mild trauma dump) and how it empowered me to strive towards my career goal
Overall not a good test taker + not in academic teams or have significant awards. Plan to apply ED1 to JHU, ED2 to Northwestern. Some other reach schools I'm considering are Duke, WashU, Emory, Rice, UChicago, UCLA, UCB, Columbia, Upenn, Stanford (oh god), NYU, Cornell, BU. Target schools would probably be the mid-tier UCs, and Upitt, and Case Western (pls help me think of some safeties that are good in premed, thank you!!)
