What is your concept for your ideal daily?

I must stress that your concept can't be a car that already exists.

For me I really enjoy smaller, fun to drive hatchbacks but ultimately I'm always left wanting something faster because more fun, and something bigger because ultimately a truck is very useful when you're doing yardwork work your washer just died.

So for me, I think it would be really awesome to have a car platform that is sold as a 3/5 door hatchback and wagon/shooting brake but they all have a removable hard cap exposing the back seat and trunk make them all various length mini pickup trucks ute things.

EDIT: I've come across the Studebaker Wagonaire and I love that the roof concept is basically there although it looks like roof actually retracts into the front passenger area which is pretty convenient.

With the way things are going using an EV/Plugin style 4WD system would provide sufficient fun levels, and I say 4WD instead of AWD because who wouldn't want drift mode with a selectable RWD.

I'd also love if they could utilize a hot swappable expandable battery bank. Assume there's something like 50 pound battery the size of a briefcase and you can use 2 for everyday driving to keep the range of your commute and to keep it light for spirited driving or you pop in 6-10 more if you have a longer trip and when those extra batteries aren't in use they could be at home charging and even acting as a battery backup for the home.

It may be dumb but I also think it would be really cool to be able to have a dealer installable lift kit that can be done quickly for use in the winter or on camping trips or maybe you just want it that way all the time for looks/ergonomics.

I'd also want a very basic interior, I like the durability and comfort of cloth seats but I'd definitely enjoy if a leather steering wheel was a cheap option or even standard. I'm also not a fan of busy designs, I like clean large simple shapes and single large accent. I think we can all agree HVAC buttons and knobs are a hard requirement. As an American I also think it's a great idea to have folding trays for eating, like what if the car had a the style of airplane tray where the door arm rest would flip up and you'd slide out this folding tray.

As for exterior styling, again I like large smooth shapes with a single simple body line that accents the overall shape. I also think it'd be really cool to bring back motorized headlight covers, so not quite pop-ups but basically a shade that hides the integrated headlight so regardless of whether they're open or closed there's no change to the aero/pedestrian safety (because when I get hit by 1.5t of steel I'm worried about the headlight protrusions).

What would your concept be? Please don't suggest cars that already exist.
