Safe for young single female?

Hello, I am planning to move later this summer to Brighton and I have been reading about the pros and cons of living there. Most of the cons talk about how expensive it is to live and party life and homelessness. I am 18F and was wondering if it would be safe to live alone compared to other cities in England. I will be having an Aunt who lives close by in Portsmouth but other than that no family/friends nearby. I do plan on attending Uni in a couple years but not at the current moments. Thanks for advice.
