I’m losing a war with woodpeckers. Help.
Hi Reddit. I have a serious woodpecker problem. This year marks the fourth spring living in my house, but I know from neighbours that this issue plagued the previous owners as well. Right around this time of year, the woodpeckers are looking for places to nest and they have deemed my house the only possible spot, none of the six large trees or pre-built birdhouses in my yard seem to do the trick. I’ve tried foam owls, foil tape, duct tape, wire mesh, rubber snakes, spiral bird scare things…NOTHING IS WORKING. I don’t have bugs in the wall, as far as I know, this is a nesting thing. They succeeded in hatching eggs 3 years ago before I bought a tall enough ladder to reach this area. Any ideas on how to prevent this without re-siding my entire house? South-central British Columbia Canada is my location.
