Question about Prednisone and Omeprazole

Few days ago I went to see my GI specialist because I was experiencing a really bad flair. She prescribed me 40 mg of Prednisone and slowly stop after 1 month. I was also prescribed Omeprazole which I take before the Prednisone. I’m 16 yrs old and have no experience with steroids or any medication for that matter. Could the medication/steroids negatively affect me in the long run. I’m a little bit anxious starting it up so any answers and encouragement would be great.
