Law experts: why did Greg choose Thailand as a hideout?

So I'm still not sure he's guilty. But assuming he is. How does this all work?

Is he wanted in Italy or America? Or both? If he's caught will he be extradited? And to where?

Somebody with some type of knowledge on international law please weigh in here because it would help a lot with predictions.
