Do you think Kai would have turned evil and killed everyone had Bonnie not left him in the prison world?

So we know Kai is evil and likes hurting people but he did absorb quite a few good qualities from Luke. So do you think he would have just lived his life semi normal and not hurt anyone (at least those in the show that we care about) if Bonnie hadn’t ditched him in the prison world? Don’t get me wrong, Bonnie deserved justice but would it not have been safer to put Kai back to sleep (even a magical spell like what was done for Elena) until new Gemini twins could do the merge?

I do fully understand that all of this needed to happen for the plot of both TVD and Legacies tho. Just a what if question.
