Misinformation in Latest Episode about Politico
In All In episode 214, at 9:38, guest Antonio Gracias repeats the lie that USAID was "funding" Politico. This is false, Politico themselves have confirmed that they receive no funding from the US government https://www.politico.com/news/2025/02/06/politico-note-to-readers-00202917 . This lie is based on misinformation that has spread rapidly on X https://apnews.com/article/usaid-funding-trump-musk-misinformation-c544a5fa1fe788da10ec714f462883d1 . Antonio received zero pushback about this lie from the rest of the crew. I've been an avid listener of the podcast for years, but if it's going to become another right wing misinformation amplifier I'm out. I hope some kind of correction or clarification is made, I know y'all are excited about being able to slash government but you shouldn't need to lie to justify it.
Edit: Based on some of the comments here and other posts within this sub, it appears there was other misinformation in that initial monologue by Antonio than just the Politico stuff. Forbes has a good breakdown here https://www.forbes.com/sites/conormurray/2025/02/07/no-chelsea-clinton-ben-stiller-and-politico-didnt-get-millions-from-usaid-the-biggest-doge-hoaxes-spread-on-x/.
If you want to be serious about cutting government waste and inefficiency in the long term, you need to be upfront and honest about it, these kinds of lies are going to breed resentment and mistrust with DOGE, and ultimately end up hurting your cause.
