Done subbing

I started with enthusiasm. I even considered getting a teaching credential as I have a masters degree. But I kept looking for and found a full time job.

I have much more respect for teachers. What a difficult job. They do it with all of this cultural pressure- the anti-intellectualism, the celebration of defying authority, the accusations of indoctrination. In reality we’re just trying to teach your child the basics and some advanced things they need to function in society.

And all the comparisons to say Asian countries not realizing that we have a democratic education system. All children deserve to learn and without so much pressure that they want to die. Education for all, not for a certain group that tested well in 5th grade, the rest be damned.

I’m glad to be out of it, but will sub once every couple of months to maintain my credential just in case. Even if the pay was crap, it was better than nothing!
