Customer had me crying after leaving their house
So I got an express order and it was small. It was also 0.9 miles from the Walmart. I got a $4 tip on top of the base pay. As I'm sitting the groceries outside of this complex for (I'm assuming older people primarily in wheelchairs) this little girl (maybe 7) sees me from inside and starts to come out to grab the groceries. I let her know that I am just taking a quick picture and then I'll be all done. As I am telling her this, I hear a lady from inside yell at her and tell her to "get back in there right now". She gently tells the woman (who I believe is her grandmother) that I was there with the groceries. I look through the glass door and can see the lady (Maybe early 60s) sitting inside in a wheelchair staring at me. She then looks at me and yells, "Are you going to bring those in!?"
Now I don't know about other sparkers but I personally will NEVER bring groceries into someone's home. Period. I am a woman who lives in a sketchy area and delivers in a sketchy area with a lot of crazy people. I will never feel comfortable enough to do that. I don't care how safe it may seem and I don't care how big of a tip is at risk. I have kids and a family and my life is much more important to those people than bringing someone's groceries in for a few extra dollars.
With that said, I look at the lady through the door and say VERY KINDLY.. "I'm so sorry. Unfortunately, we aren't allowed to bring groceries into our customer's homes." In a hateful tone, she says, "Well all the other people that deliver my groceries do!" And as I start to apologize again she cuts me off and starts yelling at me. She starts yelling, "GET OUT OF HERE THEN! GET! NOW! I DON'T CARE! LEAVE!! GET NOW!!!"
I was seriously in shock and the little girl was still just standing there silent of course. As I am walking back to my car and about to get in just in absolute disbelief at how that lady just treated me, I hear a little voice yell "Hey". I look up and the little girl is peaking her head around the porch looking at me and yelling so sweetly, "Thank you so much". I reply, "You are so welcome. Have a great day!"
And I get in my car, pull out of the neighborhood and just start BALLING. I was literally in disbelief at how someone can be so awful. But I was also so sad for that little girl and the fact that she was probably getting yelled at like that constantly. And I could tell by the way she reacted to the grandma's behavior that she was numb to it. It was just an awful awful experience and that was the first address to ever go on my s**t list.
