Why is the community so separated?
On the most recent episode of Radio Melee (Episode 42), they were discussing how it's not exactly clear about how to support your favorite players, or melee as a whole. This got me thinking about how disjointed the community is. I'll preface by saying, yes, I do know about blippi.gg
There are two major tournament organizations (BTS and VGBC) with many smaller ones as well
Several platforms for discussion (Twitter, Reddit, Smashboards, Discord)
Several sources of game info (SSBM tutorials, The Melee Library, The Cookbook, Smashboards, Frame data, UnclePunch)
Several different controller manufacturers (Goomwave, Smashbox, Frame1, b0xx, 3rd party, used official)
Most professional players have solo streams or videos on Twitch or YouTube
For more macro stats and information there are different sites (PGstats, MeleeMajors)
As well as the more recent explosion of Slippi and other game mods
What I'm really getting at is that we need to streamline all of these amazing resources into one place. I've been a fan of melee for a long time. It's frustrating that we can't just work together to make an easy entry point for new fans.
My question to all of you is; What is keeping everyone so separate? Is there something I'm missing (besides greed or ego)?
