Why do I have so many of these Mews

I’ve seen other OG hobbyists with a bunch in their collection too. I know they are a promo card but what exactly were they included in? I can’t find much on that on the internet. I don’t think I ever attended the Pokemon League, which is where some sites claim they come from.
