32 & Want To Change Careers & Considering Plumbing. Am I Too old to Start?

I am considering doing a full fledged 180 career change into plumbing. I’m 32 living about 30 min from Boston & own a fitness business & a rental property as my main sources of income.

I can’t stand the inconsistencies of fitness coaching anymore. It’s not something that’s really “needed” per se and people are often superficial and lack enough grit to really stick to their plans. I’m burnt out. It’s a really difficult job to do as you get older as the work test to be favored by the younger population at times.

Note I have close to zero connections and zero experience in plumbing besides doing some light DIY. So I am completely new to this whole world basically.

Why I am thinking of plumbing. 1. I like to be active in my job I cannot sit still in a desk. I couldn’t handle having to punch in numbers for the rest of my life. 2. I like how at ground level it’s a livable wage with clear tracks to making more money. 3. It’s diverse and not the “same thing everyday”. 4. I can afford to take steps back $$ wise.

I’m insecure about this somewhat because I do realize I’m probably a little on the older side to start. But I do feel if I work hard and show up every day I should be able to make a decent wage within a reasonable time table. Does anybody have any stories of people my age starting now? Are there any pitfalls I should watch out for before delving in?

Thanks for any help you can provide.
