CMYK Color Separation inquiry (DrawingBotV3)

Hello all,

I've been thinking about doing some pen plots with my AxiDraw plotter and DrawingBotV3 software (which I love and highly recommend if you have a pen plotter) utilizing CMYK color separation and was hoping to get some help. Are there any pens besides Fountain pens that I can use to accomplish this? (the finer tip the better). Also, as far as the CMYK separation itself goes, I would be using DrawingBotV3 - Is it as easy as choosing Color Separation in the color separation dropdown, running it, and then exporting the 4 SVG's and plotting them with Inkscape? Is there anything I need to do to the source image to get it ready for DrawingBotV3 to begin with? I have access to PhotoShop and Illustrator - Sorry for all the questions, I really appreciate any help.
