Have you ever gone to jury duty and been so thrown back by how dumb every one was and how crazy it that these people have an actual say in the outcome of a case and someone's life?

Let's just say, every time I go, it really makes me want to be a law abiding citizen because if my fate is in these people's hands, lord help me lol

Edit: I wrote this question hastily while walking back from the vet yesterday and did not expect this kind of response! I’m loving all the stories and am glad to hear everyone's takes, both positive and shockingly bad(warning: some nightmare stuff - sa, r, ca, hom, etc...). Really gives some insight into the jury, lawyer, judge dynamic, not just in the US, but internationally as well. Thank you to all posters and viewers. There’s truly some wild stories here!

*For context, my jury duty was in 2018, Brooklyn, NY. There were some smart people who listened and thought critically. I definitely wasn’t the brightest in the room, but for close to half, I questioned if they graduated high school. Just worried me a little. Also, the lawyer was fairly young and came off like a bad Corey Booker clone, which seemed pretty mid for going through law school and all lol
