Churro is still going

To my great surprise, our Churro is still with us and looking a bit more like himself.

We still don’t know exactly what he has. He tested positive to histoplasmosis, but underlying malignancy has not been ruled out. We haven’t done invasive biopsies because of his low platelets.

It’s expensive to keep him in the hospital while we cautiously wait and treat, but he’s insured and it feels like the right thing to do for now. He still won’t eat on his own but the tube feeds are well tolerated and his labs have normalized aside from the low platelets.

I deleted my previous despairing post. I felt a bit embarrassed. He’s a good boy and if it’s his time we’ll make that call, but if he survives this I will truly be astounded.
