I’m a paraprofessional for a student with severe autism in Gen Ed and I know this isn’t the right setting.

The student is in the 1st grade. Much of the work and concepts at this level is too difficult for him to comprehend at the current pace it’s being taught. It’s to the point where I’m doing the work for him and he just copies. The teacher knows this and doesn’t mind and neither do I but it bothers me that he’s not getting the appropriate support. The school wants to hire me as a full time para and his parents would like for me to remain with him as well but I can only imagine the work and concepts becoming more difficult for him in the 2nd grade. I’ll just be repeating the 2nd grade myself at that point. Who’s the appropriate person for me to discuss this with?
