Wilds' gameplay is meant to make it more accessible to newer players, but the horrible UI and menus goes against that idea. [Very Slight Monster Spoilers]
I'd like to start off with an obligatory; I am absolutely loving Wilds.
Capcom wanted to make Wilds more accessible to newer players. I think some of the gameplay changes does make it easier for newer players and is still fun (to me anyways) for veteran players.
But they have taken such a huge step backwards on the UI and menus, and I think they will actively gate off the game to newbies. Hell, even me and my friends who have been playing since 4U find some of them horrible to use at times. It almost feels like they were a placeholder that they never managed to finish in time.
Below are some comparison screenshots on how different they look. The worst offender to me is the Weapon Guide, followed by the Monster Guide (why do we have a tiny textbox to see all the information?!). We've lost the stylised and flavourful "It looks like a book with parchment textures" and gone for a bland, basic, dystopian black-boxes look (a new trend I've noticed in video games, for whatever reason).
I never even got round to how cluttered the HUD can be at times, which is almost at "Elden Ring if made by Ubisoft" meme levels.
Sadly, with it being such an integral part I can't see it changing. But hopefully developers will stop this trend of bland UI.
